Introduction

Let me introduce myself:

Hi, I'm Kelleen Sterling. I'm 29 years old, from the wonderful state of Washington. I love it here and wouldn't change it for the anything! I live about twenty minutes south of downtown Seattle. I love going to the Seattle waterfront and just walking around and checking out all the sites and sounds of the city!

I started my love for sewing when I was ten years old and haven't stopped. While in high school, I took sewing as an elective for three years. Once I graduated from high school, I kept going with my sewing adventures and went to school at The Art Institute of Seattle, receiving an Associates degree in Fashion Design.

I opened up my etsy shop after making an apron, pot holder and some coasters as a wedding gift for a friend. She ended up really liking the the gift, so I thought I would try to sell my items. A while later my mom suggested I try entering the kid's scene by sewing clothing for them as well. My shop, Kelleen Kreations, sells aprons for both little girls and women, along with kitchen accessories including pot holders/hot pads and coasters. You can also find adorable 3-tiered twirl skits and peasant dresses for girls. This fall, I plan on adding some boys items as well.

When I'm not working on sewing projects for my etsy shop, I love to read mystery novels, watch sports on TV or go to live games, camp or hike, spend time with my family, watch TV, go to plays every once in a while, travel and play with our dachshund, Mini

I will be featuring articles on some of these Etsy shops, possibly reviewing their products, posting favorite recipes or just writing about everyday life.

Chicken Sesame Salad

I thought I would give you a different kind of recipe this time instead of some kind of bake good. This is one of my favorite salads to make. My mom got it from some lady while we were vacationing at our timeshare in Lake Chelan. It's called Chicken Sesame Salad.

1 Head of Napa Cabbage (about 2 lbs)
5 Green Onions with tops (optional)
2 T. Toasted sesame seeds
1 Pkg. Top Ramen Noodles (Oriental Flavor or Chicken Sesame)
1/2 Cup Of Blue Diamond Almonds (smoked)
1 Large Can (10oz) Premium Chunk Chicken in H20
1/2 Cup Oil
1 1/2 T. Sesame Oil
3 T. Rice Vinegar ( Seasoned Style)
3 T. Sugar
( Drained Mandarin Oranges Optional)

1- Wash and slice cabbage across

2- Chop onions and almonds

3- Mix with sesame seeds and chicken

4- Mix oils, vinegar, sugar and seasoning mix

5- Pour over salad and toss well

6- Crumble ramen noodles and toss again. Serve while noodles are chrisp

Maybe made in advance, add dressing and noodles when ready to serve

(Left over salad is good the next day)

Hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do.

M & M Cookies

1 Cup Shortening
1 Cup Brown Sugar- firmly packed
1/2 Granulated White Sugar
2 Eggs
2 1/4 Cups Shifted Flour
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/2 Cups M & M's (plain)

1- Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees

2- Cream shortening sugars, eggs, and vanilla thoroughly

3- Shift four, soda and salt

4- Add dry ingredients gradually to creamed mixture, mix well

5- Stir in 1/2 cup M & M's plain chocolate candies; reserve remaining candies for decorating

6- Drop by the Teaspoon on ungreased Baking Sheet

7- Decorate tops of cookies with remaining M & M

8- Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown

After baking some of the candies may be slightly cracked. This adds texture and interest to your cookies- still the same delightful flavor. Makes about 6 dozen 2 1/2 inch cookies

New Items

I'm trying to figure out what other kinds of items people would like to see in my Etsy shop besides what I already make. I have thought about making boy things since not many people cater to that group. If I were to make boy things what would you like to see- button down shirts, pajamas, boxer shorts, cargo pants or something else. For little girls I was thinking of making another dress design, pants, shorts, pajamas or tank tops.

Take a look @ my shop and let me know what you want added- http://www.etsy.com/shop/Kelleenkreations
